About Emma
Emma Cooksey is an award-winning patient advocate, dynamic speaker, and passionate writer dedicated to improving the lives of people with sleep apnea. Living with obstructive sleep apnea herself, Emma has transformed her personal experience into a powerful mission—helping others confidently navigate sleep apnea testing, diagnosis, and treatment options.

At just 30 years old, Emma experienced a life-changing wake-up call when she fell asleep at the wheel with her baby in the car. After narrowly avoiding a collision, she relentlessly sought answers and was ultimately diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea—a moment that fueled her commitment to advocacy and awareness.

Searching for connection and support, Emma launched the highly rated podcast Sleep Apnea Stories in 2020, alongside a thriving Instagram community. Through honest conversations, she amplifies the voices of people living with sleep apnea and interviews experts across disciplines who treat and research the condition.

Emma’s advocacy journey led her to Project Sleep, a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit patient advocacy organization, where she began as a volunteer and now serves as Sleep Apnea Program Manager. In this role, she creates free, accessible resources for people navigating life with sleep apnea and develops impactful programs that raise awareness and spark meaningful change.
